Hey, I'm Kacy Shaw.
I'm a Gen X woman, a true Georgia Peach, and a career educator. I hold a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and I've spent 20 years in classrooms across Georgia, Florida, California, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. (Beach-bound the minute I left Georgia!)
Teaching is my calling, but it hasn't been a straight career line. When burnout hit, I took breaks. In the Virgin Islands, I took two VERY underpaid DJ jobs at local radio stations, because I could write, I could talk, I knew my way around the tech side, and I loved music. In California, I wrote and sold commercials and did voiceovers. Along the way, I've written for magazines and hosted a podcast. None of it felt like a stretch. Writing, speaking, and making ideas click for people is what teachers do every day.
But I always miss meaningful work. So I go right back to the classroom, where my heart is!
Here's what all those detours taught me: the first half of your life is the build-up. The second half is the drop.
At 51, I wrote the book I needed. The Second Drop: No Permission Required is for every woman standing in the middle of her life wondering if it's too late. It's not. 🤘🏽 Life just hits on a different level now.
Everything here, the books, the newsletter, the shirts, the weekend workshops, is built for one thing: helping you take the next step without waiting for anybody to say it's okay.
No permission required.
